Post-The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Trailer News & Reactions

After this morning’s release of the official The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer, the news & reactions have been pouring in. Here are the highlights:

* Reelz Channel has posted a scene-by-scene review of the trailer, and their intro post includes a bit from yours truly:

Sara from Novel Novice Twilight, had to say:

A lot happens in Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse — and while the newly released trailer for the movie adaptation shows only a tiny fraction of what’s to come, it’s a juicy fraction. The trailer is heavy on the love triangle, which is at the very core of the book, and fans from both Team Edward and Team Jacob get plenty of moments to squeal over…. All in all, this is a really great first trailer — and it’s got me very excited and very optimistic about the movie.

* The Twilight Examiner has an excellent comparison of Eclipse quotes from the trailer & those from the book:

Trailer: “Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever,” Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: “Isabella Swan? I promise to love you forever — every single day of forever. Will you marry me?” Edward Cullen, page 460.

Trailer: “You have to consider the idea that I might be better for her than you are,” Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: “You love her enough that you have to see the advantages of that plan. She thinks you’re very unselfish . . . are you really? Can you consider the idea that I might be better for her than you are?” Jacob Black, page 502.

* The Twilight Examiner also has an excellent post about the top moments from Eclipse that were NOT in the trailer:

Forks High School’s graduation ceremony is an important part of the Eclipse story. Not only is it a moniker of movement for Bella (meaning, it is the date of significance, at least at first, for her coming “transformation”), but it is also a rather quirky and fun scene. If done well, it should show an exuberant Alice (Ashley Greene in the film) – whose head is swimming with song to disguise her real thoughts – and a very perplexed Edward crossing the stage together. It’ll also be a pretty touching scene for Bella and Charlie (Billy Burke).

Riley, Bree, and the Newborns

Leah and Seth are the two new wolfpack characters of importance, and Riley and Bree are the newest vampires we love to hate. Riley (Xavier Samuel) is Victoria’s love-struck sidekick whose prevalence throughout the entire story serves to confuse everyone on the homefront. That is, until he and Edward have their epic showdown by the mountain. Similarly, Bree (Jodelle Ferland) is a character that comes about in Eclipse. While she wasn’t a critical character in the story (except, perhaps, to show the mercilessness of the Volturi), Ferland tweeted about filming for several days – perhaps even weeks. My guess is that she’ll be in more than one scene in the film, especially since they’ve brought in such an experienced and well-known actress for the role. The newborns, too, are new characters. Though most have no name or personalities to speak of, they are still rampant throughout the storyline, both far away in Seattle and right at home in Forks. It should be very interesting to see how the newborns (those in Victoria’s army and those which Jasper battles in his backstory) appear.

  1. I like the doesnt spoil too much but thats good. Im so glad that you cant notice Bellas wig and it looks amazing. Im disappointed with Victoria though..personally I believe she looks like a clown with white face paint on. :S

  2. YAY!! I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!! CAN’T WAIT FOR JUNE 30TH!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Victoria changes drastically every time they make another Twilight movie. In the first one, Twilight, she had BLOND HAIR. What happened to the “small flash of fire”? In New Moon, they brought the fiery hair back for storytelling purposes (the cliff-diving sequence required the ‘fire on the water’ look in order to match the book). Now, in Eclipse, her hair is still fiery red, which I like, but it’s CURLY. A little weird – not bad – just weird. I’m going to have to get used to this. I’m not disappointed by the fact that they have another actress playing Victoria, but somehow it’s hard to adjust to seeing a different person as the same character. Either way, the Eclipse movie is going to rock! 🙂
