First Breaking Dawn Casting News: Rami Malek

Entertainment Tonight reports that “The Pacific” star Rami Malek has joined the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as Egyptian vampire Benjamin:

ET’s introducing you to one of the new castmembers of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.’ ET correspondent Kate Gosselin chatted with new ‘Twilight’ hunk Rami Malek, at ET’s exclusive Emmy party.

Malek told ET that he was thrilled about his upcoming role in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2.” “I think it’s going to be great,” said Malek. “It’s going to be super exciting and I’m thrilled,” Malek said of joining the superstar cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

Wondering about his character? MTV’s Hollywood Crush reminds us:

You’ll recall from the novel that Benjamin is a member of the Egyptian coven summoned by Carlisle to help battle the Volturi at the end of “Breaking Dawn.” Benjamin’s special vamp ability is controlling the elements, though he has yet to fully master his powers. He’s described as a young-looking vampire with dark hair and olive skin.

Summit clears up Breaking Dawn & Eclipse Rumors

Heard a lot of rumors about Breaking Dawn and Eclipse lately? Summit clears them up:

1. There is NO open casting right now for Breaking Dawn. There are no local or national auditions. The casting director is Deborah Zane, and if you do not see her name attached to any future casting notices, then it is not legitimate. So any ads you are currently seeing, are not real. Deborah has kindly set up an email for Breaking Dawn casting rumors at

2. There was a rumor that Renesmee’s name was going to change for Breaking Dawn, this is completely FALSE.

3. Xavier Samuel’s IMDB page listed him as being a part of the Breaking Dawn cast, this also is FALSE. Riley will not be appearing in Breaking Dawn.

4. There has not been a US release date set for the DVD of Eclipse. Unless you are international and have it confirmed by an international distributor, it is all just rumors.

* Wondering which rumors about Breaking Dawn are true & which are false? The Twilight Examiner explores the facts about Breaking Dawn.

* Meanwhile, Twilighters Anonymous explores where filmmakers should split Breaking Dawn for parts 1 and 2 of the movie:

As we await the next films in the Twilight Saga, I can’t help but have mixed emotions. I’m not quite sure how I feel about last books being split into two films. Maybe I’ll know for sure after I experience it with the next Harry Potter movie? I can’t help but wonder whether two films truly benefits the fan’s thirst to see more of the book in film or whether it really benefits the pockets of those invested in the film. For fans it may even be a love-hate situation. There’s the bitter sweetness of accepting the delay of the end of beloved saga for as long as possible, along with the agony of waiting yet another year for extra movie. Rather than dwelling on the sadness and frustration of both, I’ve tried to preoccupy myself with two things:

Wondering instead how they plan to keep us excited for the upcoming movies and of course the question on everyone’s minds…where will they split the two movies?

The Twilight Saga books get a red & white makeover in the UK

The UK publishers of The Twilight Saga books (Atom Books, an imprint of Little Brown) have announced special editions of all four books — with white covers. The books will also feature pages edged in red ink.

The covers will feature the iconic imagery from the original books, but on a white background and with no text. The title and author will only appear on the spine. They’ll be available in the UK and other select overseas locations starting in October.

Anybody else think these look SO cool?
